IIRF EVOLVES INTO NEW BODY: GLOBAL IR NETWORK

The IIRF was established in 1990 to: encourage the formation of national investor relations societies and provide support for them; promote the practice of international investor relations; provide a forum for the exchange of investor relations best practice, experience and ideas; collect and circulate information; and liaise with governmental, regulatory and professional bodies on international issues.

When it was formed, there were just four national IR societies (in Denmark, France, UK and USA). By 2008, there werer 25 member societies and another 5 were known to be in the process of setting up. In September 2008, a general meeting of the members therefore decided that the main objectives of the IIRF had been achieved and it was no longer needed. They agreed to dissolve the existing organisation and initiate a new body to be called the Global IR Network (GIRN), to focus more on sharing the experience and resources of the existing national societies, rather than on having to organise commercial activities in order to fund the international body.

The IIRF has therefore been closed down, but you can visit GIRN here.

This page is hosted by  Global League, the mutual information exchange established by the IIRF to provide website and database services to its members, and to improve communication between:
  • listed companies;
  • intermediaries (brokers, agencies, etc);
  • media and IR professional bodies.
  • and investors.
 Global League is now an independent service available to all these groups. Please visit us here
